I was making Filet Mignon for dinner, and needed a great marinade to intensify the beefy flavor.  Something with deep, complex flavor, for a rich steak.  You don’t have to have a top quality steak to use this marinade.  It goes great with any beef!

Coffee Balsamic Marinade

3 tbsp stong coffee

1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp brown sugar

2 cloves minced garlic

1 tsp fresh ground pepper

1/2 tsp kosher salt

Whisk ingredients together in a bowl and pour into a ziplock bag with the beef.  Allow to marinate in the refrigerator at least an hour.

Remove the beef from the refrigerator and allow to come to room temperature.  (About a half hour before cooking)  Remember steak is a muscle!  If it goes from cold to hot, the muscle will cease and your steak wont be as tender!
